Alaska 2004  --  Day 8

Day 8, Sunday June 6 ~ Hiking in Denali

We arose from our cabins on a wonderfully clear day.  After breakfast, we divided into several groups and led by guides from the lodge we embarked on various hikes.  Our group started near the Denali Camp and climbed up a ridge along the Willow  Creek. From the various ridges there were wonderful views of the region, the McKinley range, and Mt. McKinley.  Later in the afternoon we went on a bird watching expedition to Wonder Lake.  In the evening there was a talk about medicinal plants.  By the end of the day everyone appreciated having their Deet and bug netting; the mosquitoes in Denali are plentiful and voracious.
