September 8 - Bolzano
We got up very early and after breakfast a taxi brought us to the Innsbruck train station, where we bought our tickets for the "train" to Bolzano, Italy. As we had previously learned, the first part to Bremmer, Italy, at the border was by bus. Signs pointed us where to go and the bus came and left about 10 minutes before the advertised 9:27am departure. We think that there were more buses. It took an hour to get to Bremmer where the bus left us off just a few feet from the train. The train was quite smooth and it took an hour with just two stops to get to Bolzano. We exited the train station and walked three blocks to the Hotel Feichter.
We then wandered around downtown. We quickly discovered that just half a block from the hotel on a square was a festival. Apparently it was the 50th anniversary celebration of Globus, a clothing store.

We then went to the Anthropology Museum where the actual Otzi body (5000 year old ice man) is maintained. One can just peek through a small window into the climate controlled chamber where he is. Here is a picture of a reconstruction of what they currently think he looked like. Other objects found with him are on exhibit as well as details about his death and stuff. The exhibit was put together with the National Geographic. |
