Upon arrival in Lima from our flight from Iquitos our battered bags came out quickly and shortly we found the G Adventures pick-up cab driver who brought us to the Hotel Antigua Miraflores in the Miraflores upscale residential section of Lima where it was 67 degrees and gray. The drive took over 45 minutes through very heavy traffic and went along the Playa (Beach). The city is way above the beach on cliffs that are black and very weird.
At 7 we met Lucho, our CEO (Chief Expedition Officer)/tour guide from GAdventures and 11 of the members of our group. For some strange supposed security reasons people would only identify themselves with first names. Group members were from Toronto (4), Melbourne (3), Basel (1), Ft. Worth (1), and us (2). The next morning a mother and daughter from Toronto joined us. The daughter actually works in Dubai. Lucho briefly described the trip, answered some questions and said that the next morning we would be leaving at 10:30am! Then we all walked a zig-zag few blocks to the Peruvian-Italian restaurant, Alfresco, in quite chilly weather. Dinner was excellent. Then finally to bed at 11pm.
