2012 Dolomites

Today started gray, with somewhat low hanging clouds and with a forecast of rain later in the day. So we got an early start and got the bus to Pedraces (Badia) to get the chair lift to Santa Croce to do hike #27.

We had to ask several people to find the start of the chair lift. The first lift that took us to a middle station adjacent to a Rifugio at 1850m was enclosed.



Here there was a "photopoint". All but one of you stand on a designated box, one pushes a button for at least 3 seconds and then runs to join the others.	After 10 seconds it takes a picture by a webcam and it then automatically shows up on a special website. In this case www.santa-croce.it.

The trail turned downhill and away from the massif; it became much ruttier.	As we got lower we entered the clouds and started getting damp.
We passed a strangely decorated structure.

The weather turned to rain, the camera got put away, and instead of following the plan we used another trail to get to civilization, the highway, and a bus stop. In town we found a restaurant for lunch (pizza) and then took the bus back to the hotel.
