As we climbed above tree line we began the scramble up the rather exposed Hunt Spur. The wind was a howling 30-40 mph and the temperature was 45 and dropping. Although we had just 2.4 miles to go to the summit of Katahdin and the end of the AT, we decided that the safer choice was to retreat. So we will return another day. |
